iTerrorAlert

Description

iTerrorAlert is a small program that displays the threat level determinted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on your desktop. Therefor it queries www.dhs.gov every 30 minutes.
iTerrorAlert is published under GNU Public License and can be distributed freely.
This program is meant to be a desktop toy, it is for people who bought that 30-inch Apple Display and have to much space on their desktops. It is not a serious application and you might die in an terrorist attack even when the displayed level is green.
Until now it is not proven that iTerrorAlert can display any other level than "Elevated" because the level did never change since the development of iTerrorAlert has started. :)
iTerrorAlert runs on Mac OS 10.3.x (and probably also on 10.2.8).

  • Hi,

I'd love this app even more if it used Growl. :D

Check out http://growl.info for more info on it. An alert for when we go red would be awesome in Growl.

  • This is stupid, and beyond. What makes Americans paranoid enough to make such an application is unknown to me... A lousy, brain-washing government, maybe?

What chance is there that someone will bomb exactly your house, or your way home from work? NONE!

  • Hi! As a non-US-ian I find the idea kinda silly, but that's the overall terror alert level system, not the app.

What I find sillier is having almost 1MB of images on the webpage for a 500KB program. Please learn about thumbnails vs just resizing an image.
